How to upload images and files in WordPress

Start by logging into your WordPress admin area. Here you want to click on “Media” in the menu. You will now have to options when it comes to uploading.

1: Drag & drop

The one that we frequently use is the drag and drop method. Open the folder on your computer that contains the image og images you want to upload. Select the image og images in that folder and use your mouse to click and drag the images to your media library in WordPress. When the entire area turns blue you can release the mouse. The images will now upload in just a few seconds.

2: Browse your folders

At the top of the “Media” page you will find a button called “Add New”. Click this button and choose “Select files”. The folder structure of your computer should open in a window. You can now browse to the folder that contains your image or images. Select the image og images you want to upload and click “Open”. The images will start uploading and finish in seconds.

In this tutorial we used images as an example. The same goes for other file formats such as PDF files and video files.

Be aware that there can be an upper limit on file size. It can be necessary to  upload files with FTP. This is covered in our more extensive tutorials.

I found this tutorial on how to upload images and files in WordPress Media quite disappointing . It lacked clarity and left me confused at times. The instructions seemed rushed, and there were several steps that were not well explained. Also, the screenshots were not properly labeled, making it difficult to follow along. I hope the author can improve upon this tutorial and provide more detailed guidance in the future.
